    FTMInternational promotes FTM visibility

    FTMInternational contributed grants in 2008 to publicize the Leadership Summit (fullpage ad) and IFGE ($5,000) and 2007 to publicize the FORGE Forward Conference ($5,000), Trans March ($500), Southern Comfort ($2,000) and the Gender Odyssey and Family Conference ($5,000), presented films in 2007 in sponsorship with Frameline, Outfest and Fusion and co-sponsored the 2006, 2007 and 2008 California Transgender Leadership Summit conferences, Pride events and Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremonies partnering with transgender grassroots community-based organizations in cities across America.

    FTMI President and President of the FTMI San Buenaventura Chapter Rabbi Levi Alter
    Rabbi Levi is the spiritual leader of his congregation and as a parent of a son and daughter both in college, he has often been asked to counsel the families of young FTMs. See a video advocating for transgender youth including Levi and his son and interviewed at the California Transgender Leadership Summit. Levi worked tirelessly on the case of a young FTM in solitary confinement at a women's prison without access to his testosterone and succeeded in having his hormone replacement therapy reinstated. His previous professional experiences include being on the clinical faculty of UCLA Medical Center, being a university department chairman and professor and being the executive director of a television production company and a computer consulting firm. He is the director of a health care corporation and his current work for trans inclusion in religion, health care and other fields includes being a keynote speaker or organizer for major conferences and events, being interviewed on LOGO MTV, MSNBC Newsweek, BBC Radio and many other documentaries and media appearances. Levi was honored with the Icon Award for lifetime service to the FTM community June 5, 2005 at Trans Unity Pride. levi@ftmi.org


    FTMI Vice President and FTMI Newsletter Editor-In-Chief Rev. Alexander Yoo MA MFTI
    Alexander brings his expertise in the WPATH Standards of Care as a community service provider therapist to the board and facilitates the FTM+ Coming Out Group sponsored by FTMI at the LAGLC. He is moderator of the FTM_International, FTM-International_Discussion, FTM_International_AFLOAT and FtM-Trans online communities. He is on the FTMI Finance Committee, Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee, Member Support Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau. He is a leader in many transgender causes. Alexander's speaking engagements include The Transgender Youth Symposium, Models of Pride, UCSB, Project Angel Food, Trans Unity Pride, Literary Showcase, Gender Caberet, Transgender Day of Remembrance, UCLA, Antioch University, Fusion Film Festival, CSUN, Outfest Film Festival, CSUCI, Total Wellness, CSULB, Christopher Street West, HIV Prevention Coalition, College of the Canyons, Alpha Chapter Tri-Ess, G.E.N.D.E.R.S. and the California Transgender Leadership Summit. He is a Trans Unity Pride Executive Board Member, 2003's Recipient of the Pride Award (“FTM of the Year”), 2005's Recipient of the Excellence Award and 2004's Recipient of the IFGE TSELF scholarship.     FTMI Board Member and President of the FTMI San Diego Chapter Connor Maddocks
    Connor is on the board of San Diego Pride, San Diego Community Leadership Council, San Diego Transgender Advocacy and Services Center, San Diego Day of Remembrance and Transgender Day of Empowerment. He does trainings at local colleges and organizations and is on the FTMI Membership Services Committee, Member Support Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau. He is a proud parent and grandparent.


    FTMI Executive Board Member Kimrey Lee
    Kimrey is on the FTMI Executive Board, Finance Committee, Membership Services Committee and Speakers Bureau. He has been a FTMI and FTM ALLIANCE member since the beginning of his transition in 2000. Kimrey has a strong passion to educate others in the understanding of FTMs’ experiences and issues. Kimrey recently was part of the LGBT reality show “World of Wonder,” has been on Dr. 90210, Maury Povich, and segments within three FTM related documentaries. He has been actively speaking and volunteering at colleges, various LGBT (GLAAD, TREVOR) and conservative religious groups as an active leader in the High Desert, CA FTM community.


    FTMI Executive Board Member Genie Moore
    Genie has a background in media, events, fundraising and nonprofits including the AIDS quilt, the Trevor Project and GLAAD. She is on the FTMI Executive Board, Finance Committee, Fundraising Committee and Membership Services Committee and has been an active leader in the Sacramento, CA FTM community.


    FTMI Board Member Aakash Kishore
    Aakash's degree is in Black Studies. He is on the FTMI Membership Services Committee, Member Support Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau and on the board of SATRANG and works for API Equality as an active leader in the Saint Louis, Missouri and Westside, CA FTM communities.


    FTMI Board Member Cooper Lee Bombardier
    Cooper is on the FTMI Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau. Cooper is the New Mexico Gay-Straight Alliance Network Coordinator as an active leader in the Santa Fe, New Mexico FTM community.


    FTMI Board Member Deborah Serval
    Deborah has a strong 25 year background in marketing and sales. Currently, she is a personal wine consultant for Windsor Vineyards. She has been an ardent volunteer for many years, for many causes. Deborah is a Board of Directors member for the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce. Deborah is also an active member and longtime volunteer for Congregation Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa. She is the list moderator for FTMI_AFLOAT (Allies, Friends, Loved Ones And Tribe) internet community for families of FTMs. She is the SOFFA (Significant Other, Family, Friend and Ally) voice on our board. Deborah has one son.


    FTMI Board Member Kalil Cohen
    Kalil screened his film Queering Gender: A Look Beyond the Binary at Translations film festival in Seattle and is on the FTMI Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau. He is a co-chair with the Community Clinics Campaign as an active leader in the Bay Area and Venice, CA FTM communities and engaged to be married.


    FTMI Board Member Lincoln Rose
    Lincoln was regional coordinator for the Triangle Foundation of Michigan and initiated the King County Jail transgender policy. He is on the FTMI Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee, Member Support Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau and is on the UFMCC Transgender Resource Team and runs a men's group as an active leader in the Seattle, Washington FTM community. He attends theological seminary.


    FTMI Board Member Michael Woodward
    Michael leads the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance. He is on the FTMI Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee, Newsletter Committee and Speakers Bureau. He is on the Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues and performs with the band Too Much Information as an active leader in the Tucson, Arizona FTM community.


    FTMI Board Member Mike Dennis, MS
    Mike is certified as a Public Finance Officer and is on the FTMI Finance Committee, Fundraising Committee, Membership Services Committee and Speakers Bureau. Mike was on the national advisory board for GenderPac and is Co-Chair of the West Hollywood Transgender Task Force as an active leader in the West Hollywood, CA community.


    FTMI Board Member Paris Leisure
    Paris is on the FTMI Membership Services Committee, Member Support Committee and Newsletter Committee and directs Inland Empire FTM as an active leader in the Inland Empire, CA FTM community.


    FTMI Past President Dale Altrows
    Dale was the first FTMI President from outside the Bay Area and the first from outside the US, serving as FTMI President in Montreal, Canada. He is responsible for litigating for fairness in carrying out the correction of legal documents in Canada and wrote The FTM Yellow Pages Resource Directory distributed in bookstores throughout the world.


    FTMI Past President Drago Renteria
    Dragonsani "Drago" Renteria is a Deaf Chicano/Italian FTM who is CEO of DeafVision, Inc. Drago served as Director of San Francisco's Deaf GL Center (1992-1995). In 1991, he published the first magazine by, for and about the Deaf LGBT Community. In 1994, he founded the National Deaf Q Archives and in 1995 he founded the national Deaf Q Resource Center. He was an honoree at San Francisco Pride 2002 and the Honorary Grand Marshall of Seattle LGBT Pride Parade 2006. Drago is married to Jennifer.


    FTMI Past President Dion Manley
    Dion is a craftsman and businessman. Dion is married to Hope Manley and the proud father of a beautiful daughter.


    FTMI Past President James Green MFA
    James led FTM and FTMInternational from 1991 to 1999. He authored the landmark San Francisco document Report on Discrimination Against Transgendered People (1994) for the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. He has appeared in educational films and on television in the USA, Japan, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Columbia, and Canada. James was born in Oakland, CA in 1948, received a B.A.(1970) and M.F.A.(1972) in English from the University of Oregon, and is presently working on a Ph.D. in Law at Manchester Metropolitan University in England. He transitioned in 1988. James has been honored with awards for his activism including FTM International's Pride (1999); IFGE's Trinity (1995) and Virginia Prince (1998); ICTLEP's Transgender Pioneer (1995); and the TGSF Community Leader (1996) awards. He published Becoming a Visible Man. James is married to Heidi Green, former FTMI board member.


    Founding President Lou Sullivan
    Lou held the first meeting of FTM in December of 1986 in San Francisco. Lou based FTM on the quarterly meetings and newsletters of Jeff Shevlowitz's group Under Construction launched in 1983 in Los Angeles. Jeff faithfully drove from Los Angeles to attend every meeting and later served as an FTMI board member. Board members from Anza, Berkeley, Richmond, Oakland, San Jose and Union City, California and Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, Australia and Canada have led FTMInternational as well. When Lou Sullivan died in 1991, James Green became the President and in 1997 FTMInternational members elected their first Board of Directors.
